Faffa Food Share Company History

Established in 1962 G.C as an Ethio-Swedish joint venture, Faffa Food Share Company was created with a clear purpose: to reduce childhood malnutrition in Ethiopia by producing low-cost, high-protein weaning foods. At its inception, the company operated with a modest annual production capacity of 400 tons.

Over the decades, Faffa grew steadily in both scale and capability. By embracing innovation and expanding product lines, the company increased its production capacity to over 21,000 tons per year prior to its privatization.

  • In 2010 (GC), Faffa was privatized and became part of Petram PLC. Under the new ownership, the company underwent extensive renovation and modernization, supported by an initial capital of 63.5 million ETB. This transition marked a new era of product development, market expansion, and operational efficiency.
  • The current ownership remains committed to:
  • Continuous investment in research and development
  • Commercial product innovation
  • Strengthening partnerships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Upholding corporate social responsibility and legal compliance

Today, Faffa continues to play a key role in Ethiopia’s food industry — not only as a producer but also as a partner in national development efforts to address child malnutrition and promote public health.
